“Goodbye, Goodluck Congress”: Sunil Jakhar Delivers Parting Shots As He Quits Party

Udaipur: Congress Leader from Punjab, Sunil Jakhar on Saturday, stated that he quits the party. He announced his departure from party on Facebook, while going LIVE.

He has accused the high command of listening only to a particular Punjab leader on the issue of appointment of Chief Minister After Captain Amarinder Singh left. 

Sunil said that he was upset on being “stripped of all party posts” for “not toeing the party line.” Three generations of his family had served the Congress for 50 years.

He said while he was angry with the party, but at the same time feels sorry for it.

Praising Rahul Gandhi, Jakhar called him “a good person.” He urged him to take the reins of the party in his hands. He said, “Distance yourself from chaploos log (sycophants)”.

He further added, “If you can’t distinguish between friends and foes at least learn to differentiate between Assets and Liabilities.”

He winded up his live session by saying, “Good luck and goodbye Congress.”

Before going live on Facebook, he had removed all party references from his social media handles. He had removed Congress from his Twitter bio. He replaced the party flag in the background image of his Twitter account with Tricolor.

The announcement came as the Gandhis hold the Congress’s Chintan Shivir in Udaipur. The Congress has an eye over winning the 2024 elections. Hundreds of Congress members have gathered to attend the three-day conclave.

Jakhar had been served show cause notice for his “anti-party” statements. He did not respond to the show cause notice, before the anti-disciplinary committee decided to remove him from all-party positions.
