Hanuman Chalisa Row: Senaโ€™s Sanjay Raut Alleges Dawood Link To Rana Couple

Mumbai: Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena MP, has made a stunning claim about Navneet Ranaโ€™s secret relationship with accused Dawood Ibrahim gang member Yusuf Lakdawala. Last week, the Mumbai Police detained Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana after they threatened to recite the Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackerayโ€™s private residence.

โ€œNavneet Rana recvd a LOAN of 80 lacs frm Yusuf Lakdawala who died in jail recently,โ€ Raut tweeted, alleging Navneet Ranaโ€™s ties to the Dawood Ibrahim gang.@dir ed arrested the same Lakdawala in a money laundering case and for his ties to the D gang.โ€

He asked, โ€œMy questn is- Has ED investigatd ths mattr? Ths is a questn of nationl security!โ€

Raut also tagged the office of Indian prime minister and former BJP chief minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, in his tweet.

Raut presented a copy of a document that proved Rana had received a Rs. 80 lakh loan from Lakdawala to back up his claims.

In September of last year, Lakdawala, a well-known builder and film financier at Mumbai, died in the Arthur Road jail. The Mumbai Policeโ€™s Economic Offences Wing had already arrested him in connection with a land grabbing case. The Enforcement Directorate had opened a case against him as a result of this.

The Bombay High Court on Monday dismissed a petition filed by Amravati MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana seeking the quashing of a second FIR filed by the Mumbai Police for resisting arrest over their declaration to recite the Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackerayโ€™s private residence.

The Rana couple had already been charged with sedition in a separate FIR.
