Dr. Archana Sharma Suicide Case

On Monday 28 March, twenty-two-year-old Asha Devi died during childbirth at Anand Hospital Lalsot. After which the family took the newborn baby from the hospital along with the dead body of Asha Devi. Thereafter, Dr. Archana Sharma and Dr. Sunit Upadhyay were allegedly booked against Laluram Bairwa who is Asha Devi’s husband.Following his complaint, an FIR was registered under section 302. It is written in the FIR that Asha Devi, wife of Lalu Ram Bairwa, died due to negligence of Dr. Archana Sharma and Dr. Sunit Upadhyay. Dr. Archana Sharma and Dr. Sunit Upadhyay started Anand Hospital in Dausa in 2016.

Dr. Archana Sharma committed suicide on Tuesday, March 29, a day after the complaint was filed. In her suicide note, she wrote that “I love my husband and children very much. Please don’t disturb them after I die. I didn’t kill anyone. I didn’t kill anyone. PPH is a common complication. For this, so much should be done to the doctor.” Stop torturing me. My death may prove my innocence.

Dr Sunit Upadhyay told HW News that his wife was treating Asha Devi who had a postpartum hemorrhage. In which symptoms like excessive and uncontrolled bleeding, low blood pressure, increased heart rate are included. He told that Dr. Archana tried her best but could not save Asha. He said that Asha’s condition had already deteriorated, so doctors in government hospitals in Dausa and Jaipur had refused to be admitted. He further told that after the death of Asha Devi, her family members also understood that it was difficult to save her. After which he asked us for the help of an ambulance, we provided it to him and he left with the baby. The newborn was healthy so we allowed them to carry the baby.He told that three years ago in this hospital Asha Devi gave birth to two twin daughters. In which both the mother and child went from the hospital after recovering. But this time we unfortunately could not save the mother but we tried our best.

Dr Sunit Upadhyay further told that after a few hours he saw that a crowd had gathered outside the hospital. The relatives were protesting outside with the dead body of Asha Devi. The protest was led by Ballia Joshi. He told that Ballia Joshi had also brought local BJP leaders with him. Those who were shouting slogans outside that ‘Cancel the license of the hospital, close the hospital, put the doctors in jail’.

Upadhyay also accused the police and said that the police also helped those people in this. Dr. Upadhyay told that even before this many times Ballia Joshi had gone to the hospital threatening him and Dr. Archana. He had tried to file a complaint with the police but he alleges that the police did not listen to him.

“My wife was mentally broken so much that she took this step. The SP, DSP and SHO are also responsible for the murder of my wife. If they had taken appropriate steps on time, then probably my wife would have been with me today.” Dr. Sunit Upadhyay.

The team of HW News tried to contact Lalsot police station regarding this matter but there was no response.
