iphone 13 Gifted To 200 BJP MLAs, Say Will Return

Ashok Gehlot

Udaipur: After the state budget was presented in the assembly on Wednesday, along with a copy of budget Ashok Ghelot’s government had gifted an iphone 13 to all the 200 MLAs at Rajasthan.

Last year along with a copy of budget the MLAs were presented with an ipad.

Usually after the Budget is presented the MLAs are given a copy of the budget in a briefcase at the time they leave the House. But this time it was a smart leather briefcase with a brand new iPhone 13 inside, which costs between ₹ 75,000-1 lakh, along with a copy of the budget.

The cost of gift is nearly 1.5 crore.

Most MLAs were delighted with the gift.

But the state BJP chief, Satish Poonia said that the party’s MLAs will return their iPhones. The BJP has 71 MLAs in the 200-member House.

“After discussion with honorable @Gulab_kataria ji and @Rajendra4BJP ji and other legislators, it has been decided that all the @BJP4Rajasthan MLAs will return the iPhone given by the Congress government keeping in view the financial burden on the state government,” he said in a tweet.

Gehlot’s government had an eye on the polls coming next year. There were various sops for the common man and a cut-back on electricity rates that the government will subsidise.

An urban employment guarantee scheme on the lines of MNREGA, which will provide the urban poor with 100 days of employment, was also included in the budget.

For state government employees, who are crucial in the political spectrum, the budget proposed a return to the old pension scheme. The previous government had created a pension fund where the employees had to contribute 30 per cent of their salaries. But the Gehlot government did away with that and said all government employees will be given pensions in the traditional way.

The state’s tourism sector has also been given the status of an industry.

#Article370Abolished: Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah arrested

TestHostEntry

Srinagar | Former Jammu and Kashmir chief ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah have been detained and taken to a guest house, a night after they were imposed a house arrest.

Mehbooba Mufti has been taken to Hari Niwas – a VVIP state guest house. She was put under house arrest last night as the authorities clamped restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC.

The exact reason for their arrest is not known yet.

In a statement this morning after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s announcement in parliament, Omar Abdullah had said, “The scrapping of Articles 370 and 35A raise fundamental questions on the State’s accession because that was done on the very terms enunciated in these Articles. The decisions are unilateral, illegal and unconstitutional and will be challenged as such by the National Conference. A long and tough battle lies ahead”.

While Mehbooba Mufti had said,”Today marks the darkest day in Indian democracy. Decision of J&K leadership to reject 2 nation theory in 1947 & align with India has backfired. Unilateral decision of GOI to scrap Article 370 is illegal & unconstitutional which will make India an occupational force in J&K”.

Home Minister Amit Shah has proposed in the Rajya Sabha to revoke Article 370 and bifurcate the state of Jammu and Kashmir into Jammu-Kashmir UT and Ladakh UT.
