Jawed Habib Apologises For Spitting On Woman’s Hair, “Dil Se Sorry,” He Says

Lucknow: Celebrity Hair Stylists Jawed Habib’s ‘humorous video’ was trending on social media on Thursday. The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Thursday took to Twitter to say that its chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to the UP Director General of Police (DGP) seeking action in regard of Habib’s behavior in seminar. 

In the trending video, Jawed Habib is seen spitting on a woman’s head. The video generated a discussion online. Now, the celebrity hairstylist has issued an apology through a video message. The video in question was shot during a workshop Habib conducted in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar.

In his apology video Jawed has stated that it was a humorous stunt and had no intentions to hurt anyone’s sentiments. He states that such things are done with “humourous” intent during workshops. However, he was sincerely sorry if someone was hurt because of this.

“Some words spoken by me during my seminar have hurt a few people. I just want to say one thing these are professional workshops, as in, they are attended by people from within our profession. When these sessions get very long, we have to make them humorous. What can I say? If you are truly hurt, I apologise from the bottom of my heart. Please forgive me, I am sorry,” Jawed Habib can be heard saying in the video.

The National Commission of Women has written to the UP Director General of Police (DGP) asking to take action against him. “The commission has taken this incident very seriously and not only condemns this in strongest possible words but also seeks your urgent intervention in the matter to investigate the veracity of this viral video for immediate action as per law/procedure,” the letter reads.

As per reports of India Today, the woman is identified as Pooja Gupta rom Baghpat.
