Kalicharan Maharaj Arrested For Remarks Against Mahatma Gandhi

Bhopal: Hindu Religious Leader Kalicharan Maharaj has been arrested for making derogatory remarks against Father Of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, and praised his assassin, Nathuram Godse. He has been arrested from Madhya Pradesh’s Khajuraho by Chhattisgarh Police.

Acting on a specific input, the Raipur police apprehended the seer from a rented room near Bageshwar Dham, located around 25 km from Khajuraho town in MP, Raipur Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal told PTI. To avoid police all his aides too had switched off their mobile phones. 

This morning, a team of 10 policemen finally tracked him down, arrested him. He will be taken to court by evening.

He will be brought here via road route by Thursday evening, the official said.

A case was also registered against him at Akola in Maharashtra on Monday in this connection.

Chief Patron Mahant Ramsunder Das, walked out in anger after hearing remarks made by Kalicharan Maharaj. He was charged with promoting enmity between communities after former mayor Pramod Dubey filed a police case.

In his speech – clips of which have been widely circulated on social media, Kalicharan Maharaj declares that the aim of Islam is to capture the nation through politics. He also declared “Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi destroyed the country… salutations to Nathuram Godse, who killed him”.

Kalicharan Maharaj demanded people elect a “staunch Hindu leader” to “protect” Hinduism.
