“Learn About Mughal Kings In Books, But Little Mention Of Our Kings”: Akshay Kumar On Prithviraj Chauhan

New Delhi: Indian kings are rarely mentioned in history textbooks, whereas “invaders” take up a significant portion, according to actor Akshay Kumar, who was speaking about his next film based on emperor Prithviraj Chauhan.

The film ‘Prithviraj,’ starring Mr Kumar and Manushi Chhillar, will be released on Friday.

“Unfortunately, our history textbooks only have two-three lines about Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, but a lot has been mentioned about the invaders,” Mr Kumar said in an interview to news agency ANI.

The actor went on to say that there isn’t much in history books regarding our culture and Maharajas, and he asked the Education Minister to look into it.

“Nobody is there to write about it in our history books. I would like to appeal to the Education minister to look into this matter and see if we can balance it. We should know about Mughals, but know about our kings too. They were great too,” said Mr Kumar.

When asked if the Indian film industry had reached a worldwide stage, Akshay Kumar complimented Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“All thanks to our PM who has taken us in such a huge way internationally. Things changing for our country,” he said.
