“No Guilt,” Says UP Seer Accused Of Giving Rape Threats To Muslim Women

Lucknow: A local court granted bail to Bajrang Muni Das of Maharishi Shri Laxman Das Udasi Ashram. Bajrang was accused of making a hate speech and issuing a “rape threat” in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur.

Bail to seer was granted by District Judge Sanjai Kumar. On Sunday morning, he was released from jail.

On April 13 Bajrang was arrested. He was arrested after one Ramnaresh filed a complaint against him.

On being released he said that he is ready to go to jail a thousand times and face many attacks, but will continue to safeguard his religion and women.

“I have no guilt for what I said…,” he said.

Das is a mahant of Maharshi Shri Lakshman Das Udasi Ashram in Khairabad town of Sitapur. On April 2, he allegedly made hate speech against Muslims. A video of his speech had gone viral on social media.

He was delivering speech outside a Mosque. In the video he can be heard using term “jehadi” to refer to a community and threatening them if any Hindu girl is harassed by any man of that community, he would himself rape their women.

After police lodged an FIR against him, another video surfaced of him, apologizing for his comments.

While he gave the speech, the crowd around applauded, while some police personnel present at the spot apparently remained silent spectators, the video showed.
