Poster Girl Of Priyanka Gandhi’ Campaign Might Join BJP: Report

Lucknow: Priyanka Maurya, who is face of Congress Uttar Pradesh Campaign, ‘Ladki Hun, Lad Sakti Hun’ might join BJP. She is mulling over joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after she was denied a ticket to contest in the UP assembly elections.

Asked whether she would join the BJP, Ms Maurya, who was seen in the party office in Lucknow earlier on Wednesday, indicated that she may join the ruling party in the state.

“Probably, yes. I have worked a lot in the field but ticket distribution was pre-planned. I was not given a ticket, but I was a deserving candidate,” she told ANI.

“Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon” is a slogan but Congress didn’t give me a chance to fight,” she added.

Ms Maurya, who is a vice president of Mahila Congress in Uttar Pradesh, said she will take the final decision soon.

The Congress has been organizing ‘marathons’ under it’s campaign ‘Ladki Hun, Lad Sakti Hun.’ But due to the spike in the pandemic these have been postponed.

Uttar Pradesh assembly elections will be held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.

Notably, the Bhim Army chief last week met Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav. After meeting the Yadav scion, Azad ruled out any possibility of an alliance between Azad Samaj Party and SP for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2022.

Azad said that his party would not field its candidates in front of some people, including Shivpal Singh Yadav, Suheldev Bharatiya, Om Prakash Rajbhar, Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Jayant Chaudhary and Swami Prasad Maurya. He said that if Akhilesh Yadav contests the election, the party will not field a candidate in front of him.

Chandrashekhar Azad had said on Tuesday that even if the Samajwadi Party gives it 100 seats in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, he will not forge an alliance with it. Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Azad said in a press conference in Greater Noida that his party will contest the elections alone in Uttar Pradesh and he has taken this decision after talks with the Samajwadi Party did not work out.
