Chandigarh: The cabinet expansion ceremony for inducting ministers in Punjab’s new government will take place on March 19, news agency ANI reported. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Mann, the state’s 17th chief minister, was sworn-in on March 16, and was the only person to take oath.
“Punjab’s cabinet expansion ceremony to induct the ministers will be held tomorrow at 11am in Chandigarh. The cabinet’s first meeting will also be held tomorrow, at 12:30pm,” reported news agency ANI.
As of now, no information is being shared about which party leaders will be taking oath and what portfolios will be allocated to each.
With 92 seats Aam Aadmi Party has won the Punjab State Elections, which were held on February 20, and has thrown Congress out of power from the state. A majority of the party’s newly-elected MLAs in the 117-member House are first-timers and are from different walks of life.
Meanwhile, On Thursday Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said he will announce an anti-corruption helpline number. For announcing this helpline, he has chosen March 23, the Matrydom Day. After Mann has taken up the charge of Punjab, this is first major announcement made by him.
He said that this would be his personal WhatsApp number. He asked people to record video or audio of any corrupt activity happening around them and send it on that WhatsApp number. He assured strict action would be taken against those who will be found seeking bribe.
