Punjab Is Invited: Bhagwant Mann On His Swearing-In Ceremony At Bhagat Singh’s Village

Chandigarh: The Aam Admi Party leader and Punjab chief minister-elect Bhagwant Mann today met the governor of Punjab Banwarilal Purohit to stake claim to establish the new government in the state. The swearing-in ceremony of Mr Mann will take place at the native village of the freedom fighter Bhagat Singh on March 16 at 12:30 pm, said Mann outside the Raj Bhavan.

Mann invited entire Punjab to his oath-taking ceremony and also assured the people of the state that his cabinet will take a “historic decision”. “People from houses across Punjab will come to the ceremony, they’re going to also pay tribute to Bhagat Singh. We will have an honest cabinet,” Mann was quoted as saying by ANI. Aam Adami Party’s CM candidate, Bhagwant Mann, had won from the Dhuri seat by over 58,000 seats and thereby was elected as the AAP’s legislature party leader in Mohali on Friday.

Punjab’s Chief Minister-elect Bhagwant Mann in his first direction to Aam Admi Party’s MLA asked them to spend maximum in their constituencies and not in the capital Chandigarh.

Addressing the elected MLAs of AAP, Mann asked them to work for the constituencies where they went to seek votes during campaigning. He said, “We need to work for all those places where we visited seek votes. All MLAs must work in the areas from where they have been elected, not just stay in Chandigarh.” The AAP govt can have 17 cabinet ministers apart from CM. Bhagwant Mann asked the legislators to not get upset. “You are all cabinet ministers,” he told the meeting of 92 MLAs including himself.

Mann also appealed to the MLAs to not be arrogant and work for the welfare of the people in Punjab, even after those who have not voted for the party. “You are the MLAs of the Punjabis. They have elected the government,” he said. The Aam Admi Party witnessed a glorious victory in the Punjab Assembly Elections sweeping away 92 seats in the 117-member Assembly.
