Sourav Ganguly Tests Positive, Omicron Results Awaited

New Delhi: Former Indian Cricket Team Captain Sourav Ganguly has been tested positive for COVID. Samples are further sent to check if it is a case of Omicron or not, for which the results are awaited. The president of BCCI has been admitted to a hospital in Kolkata after testing positive, as doctors recommended not to take any risk. 

Ganguly who is double vaccinated, on Monday evening has been admitted to the hospital. As per the statement released from the hospital, Sourav’s condition is stable. 

Currently, he is admitted to the Woodlands Hospital.

“Mr. Sourav Ganguly, BCCI President, and former Indian cricket captain got admitted at Woodlands Multispecialty Hospital on December 27, 2021, late evening with Covid Positive status,” Woodlands Hospital said in an official statement.

“He received Monoclonal Antibody Cocktail therapy on the same night and is currently hemodynamically stable. A medical board comprising Dr. Saroj Mondal, Dr. Saptarishi Basu, and Dr. Soutik Panda in consultation with Dr. Devi Shetty and Dr. Aftab Khan is keeping a close watch on his health status,” the statement added.

Ganguly was admitted to the hospital twice earlier this year and underwent emergency angioplasty after having some cardiac issues.

His elder brother Snehasish Ganguly had also tested positive for COVID early this year.

Sourav Ganguly had attended the premiere of Bangla superstar and TMC MP Dev’s latest film Tonic on December 24 and was seen with celebrities like Nusrat, Yash, Babul Supriyo, TMC MLA Madan Mitra, etc.

Ganguly resumed work in March and also got himself fully vaccinated against Covid-19. His brother Snehasish Ganguly had also tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this year.
