TMC Files Complaint Against Priyanka Gandhi For Flouting Rules In Goa

Panaji: The Trinamool Congress in Goa has filed a complaint against Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi for flouting MCC rules during a door-to-door campaign on February 7 in the state, with the Election Commission.

The party has claimed that in the door-to-door campaign no covid protocols were followed by the Congress and supporters and leaders were not wearing masks, social distancing was not being maintained.

The party demands that Priyanka Gandhi should be prohibited from conducting any further campaigns in Goa.

Priyanka Gandhi was on a day’s visit to the state and campaigned in several constituencies. While talking at a public rally, she said that if voted to power, the Congress party would reserve 30% of government jobs for women and make provisions for the security of women in Goa.

Priyanka Gandhi also said that parties like TMC and AAP were here only to divide votes and have no chance of forming any government.

Goa will go to the polls on February 14.

Priyanka Gandhi assures 30% quota for women

Ahead of the Assembly Elections at Goa, Priyanka Gandhi said, the BJP government has failed to protect and help Goans. “This election is significant for Goans. Goa is rich in resources, natural beauty, skill, and environment. However, the BJP government has failed to protect them and help Goans. BJP initially usurped power by the wrong means and promoted defection and later focused only on remaining in power. Thus it sidelined the core issues of Goa and imposed unwanted projects,” she at a public meeting in Nuvem assembly constituency.

“It (the BJP) is telling you that you should fight amongst yourselves. It is redefining your religions for you. The conversation in every election, with every political party, must be on what they are going to provide for you and your development,” the Congress leader said.

She also said that if her party comes to power in Goa, ₹500 crores from the government fund will be allocated for employment generation and 30% of government jobs will be reserved for women.

“I am working hard to bring women into politics. Women can bring positivity in politics, which is needed,” she said, hailing the party’s manifesto released on Sunday.

Among the promises made in the Congress manifesto for the upcoming Goa, polls include implementation of the Nyay scheme, ₹6,000 per month to families from weaker sections. The Congress has also assured to build hostels for working women in Margao and Panaji and increase the number of police stations supervised by women.
