Watch: Kashmiri Pandits Protest At Lal Chowk Against Rahul Bhat’s Killing

The Kashmiri Pandit community in Srinagar today took to to streets once again to protest against the killing of Rahul Bhat. The slogans like ‘We want justice’ and ‘Administration haye haye’ (down with administration) reverberated at the historic and busy Lal Chowk city centre as scores of Kashmiri Pandits gathered there to make their voices heard. 

First, the members of KP community assembled near Bund in Lal Mandi area of the city and held a puja in the Jhelum river for Bhat, who had died after being shot by terrorists inside the Tehsil office in Budgam district’s Chadoora town on May 12.

The protesting pandits, soon after the Puja ended, started walking towards the Lal Chowk. 

The protesters held a sit-in near the famous clock tower after reaching the Lal Chowk. 

Demanding justice for the slain Bhat, they raised slogans against the administration. They also demanded strict action against the killers of Bhat and the authorities in Budgam.

Kashmiri Pandits employees, who got jobs under the prime minister’s package be relocated, the protesters further demanded. 

There have been flurry of protests against the administration by the KP community across the state after the killing of Rahul Bhat, who had got the job of a clerk under the special employment package for migrants in 2010-11.
