“Won’t Leave Her Easily”: Malayalam Actor-Producer Over Sexual Harassment Allegation Against Him

Kochi: Vijay Babu, a Malayalam film actor and producer, has been charged with sexually abusing a female actor by the Kerala Police. Babu claimed innocence and claimed to be the genuine victim of the case hours after the lawsuit was filed against him, revealing the woman’s name in a Facebook live.

The actor said in a complaint filed with the Kochi police on April 22 that Babu had sexually abused her on multiple occasions while promising her jobs in his films. Babu allegedly raped her at his Kochi flat, she claimed.

Malayalam star Vijay Babu denied the charges, claiming that he had done nothing wrong. He even stated that he will bring a defamation suit against her and that he “won’t let her get away with it that lightly.”

“I haven’t done anything wrong. I’m the victim. The law of this country protects her and she is at ease while I’m the one who is suffering,” he said during Facebook live.

“I will file a defamation case. I won’t let her get away that easily. I can share all the proof I have, but I won’t because I don’t want to cause damage to her family. I’m answerable only to my wife, mother, sister and friends. And I don’t want this to end with a piece of small news saying, ‘Vijay Babu found not guilty’,” he added.

Elaborating his allegations, Vijay further said “She came for an audition and got her role. All these talks about casting couch and all… it is I who is suffering.”

“She started sending messages saying she was depressed. From December till March 2021. I have all her messages, and over 400 screenshots. Whatever allegations she may have, rape or consensual, I have all on record.”
