3 militants killed in Anantnag; internet snapped, educational institutions closed

March 12: At least three militants were killed by the security forces during an overnight encounter in Hakoora area of district Anantnag. The slain militants belong to Threek-ul-Mujahiddin and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant outfits.

Reports said that pursuing credible leads about the presence of militants in the area a joint team of SOG, Army and CRPF started the search in the Hakoora area of Anantnag district.

While the search was going on, the hiding militants fired upon the search party. The fire was retaliated by the security forces ensuing an encounter.

In the said encounter, 3 militants were killed which include Eesa Fazli of Srinagar, Syed Owais of Kokernag and a third militant whose identity is being ascertained. Reports said that Eesa Fazli was BGSU Rajouri student and had joined Threek-ul-Mujahiddin in 2017.

In the process arms and ammunition which included AK 47 rifles, pistols, hand grenades etc were recovered from the encounter site. Further, in the said incident, no collateral damage has taken place.

It is pertinent to mention that among the killed militants one was involved in a recent attack on a police guard post at Soura in which one police constable had attained martyrdom.

In this connection , a case has been registered and investigation has been started under the relevant provisions of the law by the Police.

Meanwhile, all mobile operators in Srinagar have been directed by authorities to downgrade their High mobile Internet speed to 128 Kpbs for precautionary measures besides classwork has also been suspended for today.
