Mumbai: After “many blunt force injuries” were found on the body of the murdered actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sonali Phogat, Goa Police on Thursday detained two of her colleagues.
A senior police officer told PTI here that earlier in the day, police had added Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code to the investigation involving the 42-year-old leader’s death.
When Phogat landed in Goa on August 22, she was accompanied by Sudhir Sagwan and Sukhwinder Wasi, who were later identified by the police as the suspects.
On Wednesday, her brother Rinku Dhaka reported the two guys to the Anjuna Police Station.
She underwent an autopsy on Thursday morning at the Goa Medical College and Hospital by a group of forensic specialists with her family’s consent.
“The cause of death due to the best of my knowledge and belief is reserved pending chemical analysis. Histopathology and serological reports of the tissues preserved. However there are multiple blunt force injuries over the body. In view of the above, the manner of death is for the investigating officer to ascertain.” the report stated.
The morning of August 23, Phogat, a native of Hisar, Haryana, who gained celebrity on TikTok was brought dead to the St. Anthony Hospital in Anjuna, North Goa. A heart attack was indicated as the cause.

Wednesday’s autopsy was originally planned, but Phogat’s brother claimed she was murdered by two of her friends, and the family would only agree to the procedure once a FIR had been filed against the accused. The family had agreed to the post mortem under the condition that it would be videotaped, according to Sonali Phogat’s nephew Mohinder Phogat, who spoke to PTI on Thursday morning.
Her brother Dhaka claimed that Phogat had spoken to her mother, sister, and brother-in-law just before she passed away. He claimed that she sounded agitated during the talk and begrudged her two colleagues.
