Denmark’s parliament enacted a law prohibiting public Quran burnings on Thursday, aiming to ease tensions with Muslim nations following Danish protests. The move responds to incidents in Denmark and Sweden where activists damaged or burned Quran copies, prompting calls for Nordic governments to ban the practice. Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard noted over 500 demonstrations, including Quran or flag burnings, since July.
