Don’t have any regrets says Jagtar Singh Tara who assassinated former CM Beant Singh

After being convicted from a court of assassinating Beant Singh, the former Punjab Chief Minister, Jagtar Singh Tara, the pro-Khalistan terrorist said that he holds no regret for what he did and will carry on his “battle” for the liberation of the “freedom” of Sikhs in the nation.

Tara through his counsel amidst raising pro-Khalistan slogans, said, “If by killing a cruel person I can save thousands of innocent people then it is not wrong”.

It was yesterday that Tara was pronounced guilty by a court in Chandigarh of the assassination of Punjab Beant Singh the former chief minister in 1995. The additional district court and sessions judge J S Sidhu would be announcing the quantum of his sentence today.

Tara had earlier as well confessed to his involvement in the killing and stated that he will continue his fight against the government. He made his confession in a letter which he had submitted to the court in the month of January this year.

Beant Singh, the then Chief Minister was killed in an explosion on 31 August 1995 outside the Civil Secretariat in the city of Chandigarh. It was the employee of Punjab police Dilawar Singh who had worked as a human bomb in the complete incident.
