Biden Cabinet To Loan $1.5B For US’ First Nuclear Plant

The Biden administration unveiled plans to extend a $1.5 billion loan to revive a nuclear facility in southwestern Michigan. Originally slated for decommissioning by Holtec International, the Palisades plant is now targeted for restart by late 2025, backed by Michigan and the administration. Governor Gretchen Whitmer hailed it as the nation’s first reopened nuclear plant, pending inspections and NRC approval.
