Peruvian police announced Monday the discovery of the well-preserved body of American mountaineer William Stampfl, missing since 2002 while climbing Huascaran in Peru. His remains were uncovered due to ice melt on the Andes’ Cordillera Blanca range. Stampfl’s passport, among his belongings, confirmed his identity after 22 years.
