Hajj Death Toll Climbs To 1,301 Due To Extreme Heat: Saudi Officials

Over 1,300 deaths occurred during this year’s Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia due to extreme heat, as announced by Saudi authorities on Sunday. Health Minister Fahd bin Abdurrahman Al-Jalajel noted that 83% of the fatalities were unauthorized pilgrims who endured high temperatures to perform rituals in and around Mecca.
