The US military grounded its V-22 Osprey fleet after a fatal crash off Japan, with the Air Force Special Operations Command taking the step to “mitigate risk” during the ongoing investigation into the November 29 incident that claimed the lives of eight US airmen.
The hybrid aircraft, with vertical takeoff and airplane capabilities, has seen three fatal accidents in a little over a year.
