Russia’s Retaliates At Ukraine With Drone Attacks

Russia retaliates at Ukraine with drone strikes on a residential building in the northern Ukrainian city, Pryluky. These strikes killed about five people, including a one-year-old, his mother and his grandmother early on Thursday. Six drones struck the building at local time 5:30 am.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram about the effects of the attack. He said, “One of the rescuers arrived to respond to the aftermath right at his own home,”.

Zelenskyy added, “It turned out that a Shahed drone hit his house.”

The attack comes shortly after Russia President Vladimir Putin spoke to US President Donald Trump. According to Trump, Putin had said that he would retaliate “very strongly” at Ukraine for its attacks on Russian airbases.

Putin earlier had earlier laid peace terms on a few conditions. These included the lifting off of sanctions and enlargement of the NATO eastwards majorly.

Ukraine’s Earlier Attack At Russia

Earlier, Ukraine again attacked Russia-controlled energy facilities in southern Ukraine. This has stopped power for tens of thousands of people. This is as reported by Russian officials in that region, on Thursday.

The Russian governor installed in the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo spoke early on Thursday about the drone attack. He said that the disruption in power affected about 68,000 people in 97 settlements.

Meanwhile, Yevgeny Balitsky, the Russia-appointed head in the nearby Zaporizhzhia region also spoke about the drone attacks. He said that attackers had also targeted energy facilities, but he did not speak about the number of people who were affected. However, Balitsky mentioned that forces took down 10 drones.

In the earlier part of the week, similar drone strikes cut power temporarily to about 700,000 inhabitants in the regions. According to officials, emergency services immediately managed to resume power supply after the drone attacks.

An official statement has not arisen from Ukraine on the new drone attacks. But, the country has majorly used drones as a part of its attempts to control Russia-occupied regions and to disrupt Russian intelligence.
