While addressing members of the Indian diaspora in Washington, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor recalled the Pahalgam terror attack. He highlighted the horrible reality of terrorism and how it affects people. Tharoor also pointed to the significance of international unity and cooperation, while in USA.
Shashi Tharoor Recalls Pahalgam Terror In USA
The MP recalled an incident from the attack. He said, “A woman, who had just witnessed her husband being gunned down, screamed in horror, ‘kill me too’.”
“But the terrorists said no. They wanted her to live, to carry the story of what had happened.” He then said.
“That is the message they wanted to give,” Tharoor said, meaning by what he said that the attack was aimed at sowing religious disharmony using violence.
He also said, “There’s been a very wide, impressive cross-section of legislators who met us and spoke to us,” Tharoor said, “We came to lay out what we’ve endured in India in the last few weeks and seek understanding and solidarity.”
“They had to rush off to a vote, but before that, they made sure they engaged with us in a very positive and constructive way,” he then said.
“We came prepared for pushback or even some scepticism, but we found none. There has been unconditional support extended to us in our struggle against terrorism,” Tharoor also said.

He had earlier said, “Operation Sindoor, actually, I thought was a brilliantly chosen name…” He spoke about Operation Sindoor, which India undertook to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack.
