Kerala: 16-Year-Old Boy Found Hanging In School, Probe Ordered

A 16-year-old identified as Benson Abraham, a native of the Erumakuzhi area of the capital district, was found hanging near the school building’s roof near the staircase.

According to New Indian Express, the family has accused the school clerks over their son’s suicide. It is claimed that he had used the school’s office seal on his project without permission, which led to a confrontation with the clerk.

The clerk scolded Benson for doing so, and the family believes the incident deeply affected him.

The boy’s family is now demanding to take strong against the clerk. The police have assured the family that they will look at all the possible angles in the case, including academic pressure and alleged disciplinary actions by school staff.

General Education Minister V Sivankutty, the Deputy Director of the Vocational Higher Secondary section, will look into all the incidents where a student was found hanging inside a school.

Kerala’s Department of General Education ordered an investigation into the death in Thiruvananthapuram district.
