Law and Home Ministry websites directed to error pages after defence ministry website goes down

After some time of website of Ministry of Defence leading the page to an error, the website for the Home and the Law Ministry had gone down as well today evening.

The Defence Ministry, on the other hand, took it to Twitter saying, “Issue with the MoD website has been taken note of. Appropriate action has been initiated.”

Nirmala Sitharaman, the defence minister said that the website will be up and running shortly.

She tweeted, “Action is initiated after the hacking of MoD website. The website shall be restored shortly. Needless to say, every possible step required to prevent any such eventuality in the future will be taken”.

As per the sources, the National Informatics Centre that maintains and runs all the websites of the government has been asked to probe into the matter.

The error surfaced on the day when the Indian Air Force declared it was starting its largest wargames ever that focused on the dual threat of Pakistan and China.

This is not the first time that an Indian website seemed to have undergone a threat of being hacked since earlier as well, they have been suspected to be hacked by hackers who belong to Pakistan. It was in the month of January this year that certain suspected operatives based in Pakistan had hacked the National Security Guard website and marred it with anti-India content and comments against the PM of India.

The experts have attributed the recurrent hacking of national websites of the country to lack of adequate measures of security in the virtual world.
