Police said the truck crushed the sleeping workers on the Kim-Mandvi route near Surat. Of these, 12 people died on the spot.
Surat| On Tuesday, 15 of the migrant laborers sleeping on the roadside in Surat district of Gujarat died after being hit by a truck. Police said the incident occurred near Kosamba village, about 60 km from Surat. According to police information, all the migrant laborers killed were from Rajasthan.
Police said the truck crushed the sleeping workers on the Kim-Mandvi route. Of these, 12 people died on the spot, while three of the eight injured died in the hospital. Police informed that the truck driver has been arrested. PM Modi has expressed grief over this incident and compensation has been announced to the family of the deceased.
Ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the accident in Surat. Rs. 50,000 each would be given to those injured.

Two lakh rupees will be given as compensation to the families of the people who lost their lives in this accident from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, while 50 thousand rupees will be given to each injured. This information has been given by the PMO.
