18,346 fresh Covid-19 cases registered with death count of 263

Mumbai: India registered 18,346 fresh Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, which was the lowest in 209 days, according to the latest update by Union Health Ministry.

263 deaths were recorded due to the infection, according to the health ministry said. With this, the Covid-19 death toll in India touched 4,49,260. Active coronavirus cases in the country were 2,52,902. In the last 24 hours, active cases decline by 11,556.

A total of 29,639 Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which pushed the total recoveries to 3,31,50,886 across the country. The health ministry said the Covid-19 recovery rate in the country stood at 97.93 per cent.

The top five states which have registered maximum number of Covid-19 cases are Kerala with 8,850 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 3,165 cases, Mizoram with 1,681 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,467 cases and West Bengal with 601 cases.

The maximum casualties were reported in Kerala with 149 fatalities, followed by Maharashtra with 26 deaths. A total of 11,41,642 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. According to the health ministry, India has administered a total of 72,51,419 Covid vaccine doses in the last 24 hours.

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 92 crore on Tuesday, the Union Health Ministry said. Over 54 lakh vaccine doses have been administered on Tuesday till 7 pm and the tally is expected to increase with the compilation of the final reports by late in the night, it said.
