9 Baje 9 Minute: From Common People To Celebrities, Indians Come Out To Send A Message of Solidarity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah also shared their pictures lighting a lamp on Twitter.

 

New Delhi| Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to light a lamp, candle or mobile flashlight to show solidarity in India’s fight against Coronavirus received an overwhelming response on Sunday. Indians across the country came out of their houses and in their balconies to light lamps or candles or mobile flashlight. From Delhi to Tamil Nadu, common people as well as celebrities took part in the 9 baje 9 minute call for solidarity. In some parts people blew Conch shells and shouted slogans of ‘Bharat Maata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared his pictures lighting a lamp on Twitter. His mother Hira Ba was also seen sitting beside a ‘Diya’ at home. Several ministers including Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh took part in the exercise. Industrialist Mukesh Ambani and wife Neeta Ambani were seen lighting the candle and performing Aarti. Several bollywood actors and celebrities from South including Rajinikanth and Allu Arjun shared pictures of them lighting a lamp or candle.

 

Embassies of various countries in India participated in this too.

Meanwhile, some firecrackers were heard in Noida during the solidarity vigil.
