Ajay Maken Named New Rajasthan Congress Incharge

Ajay Maken and Randeep Surjewala were sent to Rajasthan as observers during this entire crisis. Maken earlier worked as Delhi Congress chief.

Days After Gehlot-led Rajasthan government of Congress won the trust vote in the Rajasthan Assembly, Congress has made Ajay Maken the new incharge of the Rajasthan Congress. Maken is a former Union Minister and a trusted confidant of Rahul Gandhi.

Avinash pandey has been removed by the high command apparently on Sachin Pilot’s demand.

Post the truce with rebel Pilot, the Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi has also constituted a high-powered committee which includes senior leaders Ahmed Patel, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal and Ajay Maken.

The new appointments are made after a month-long political tussle between CM Ashok Gehlot and his deputy Sachin Pilot, who rebelled with 18 other MLAs. The crisis had pushed the Gehlot government on the brink of collapse.

Ajay Maken and Randeep Surjewala were sent to Rajasthan as observers during this entire crisis. Maken earlier worked as Delhi Congress chief.

On Friday, the Ashok Gehlot government won the trust vote in the assembly by voice votes. Factions of MLAs supporting both Gehlot and Pilot came together a day before the trust vot, after Pilot’s truce with the high command.

The change of state incharge is also seen as one of the demands that Pilot allegedly made ahead of high command before returning to the fold.
