New coronavirus strain has been found in three patients in Mumbai. These three patients are now cured. It is a matter of concern that three types of antibodies made so far in the body of covid-19 patients are ineffective on this strain. Experts are looking at this new strain by connecting it to the Coronavirus strain of South Africa.

Genome sequencing of 700 coronavirus samples was done by the team of Professor Dr. Nikhil Patkar of Tata Memorial Center in Mumbai. Three of these samples found E484K mutants of the virus. Mutations cause the virus to change its form, then the antibody formed against the old virus neutralizes the changed virus.
