Uttar Pradesh: Another army officer arrested in BrahMos spying case

Meerut | The Military Intelligence (MI) on Wednesday arrested an army soldier from Meerut in connection with the BrahMos spying case.

The arrest has come after the Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) on October 8 arrested a Defence Research and Development Organisation ( DRDO) employee from Nagpur who was allegedly working for Pakistan Intelligence Agency ISI. Kanchan Singh a part of the Signal Regiment who was arrested by the UP Police had been associated with the Indian Army with the last 10 years.

According to sources, Singh is been alleged of sharing “confidential and vital information” related to the Western Command with the Pakistan intelligence agency ISI. Speaking on the arrest the UP police said that the military intelligence officers informed them about the soldier’s arrest in the morning.

The BrahMos is a medium-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarine, ships, aircraft, or land manufactured by the DRDO under the Indo-Russian partnership.
