Babri Verdict: All Accused Acquitted, CBI Court Says Demolition “Not Pre-Planned”

The special CBI court said the demolition of the Babri mosque was not pre-planned. The judge said that VHP leader Ashok Singhal and other Sangh Parivar leaders wanted to save the structure as Ram Lalla statues were inside.

In the 28-year-old case of Babri mosque demolition, the special CBI court today acquitted all the accused. The accused included former Deputy PM Lal Krishna Advani, BJP leaders Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti, Kalyan Singh, Vinay Katiyar along others. The court said there is conclusive proof against the accused, ToI reported.

The special CBI court said the demolition of the Babri mosque was not pre-planned. The judge said that VHP leader Ashok Singhal and other Sangh Parivar leaders wanted to save the structure as Ram Lalla statues were inside. The court found that the video was fabricated. The investigative team did not produce negatives of pictures, Times of India reported.

26 out of 32 accused were present in the court during the hearing. Special CBI court SK Yadav pronounced the verdict.

In the wake of the verdict, the Delhi Police has tightened the security across the city, the police said.
