Bhubaneshwar| As Cyclone Fani hit the coasts of Odisha on Friday morning, disturbing the normal life, a baby was born few kilometres away from the eye of the storm in Bhubaneshwar. The baby has been named after the cyclone Fani.
As per reports, the girl was born at Mancheswar Hospital in Bhubaneshwar at 11:03 am on Friday morning. Fortunately, both the child and the mother are doing fine. The girl’s mother works at Coach Repair Workshop in the area. A photo of Baby ‘Fani’ has been shared on social media.
Large areas in the seaside pilgrim town of Puri and other places were submerged with water as heavy rains battered the entire coastal belt of the state. Several trees were uprooted and thatched structures destroyed at some places including Bhubaneswar.
“The cyclone has entered the Odisha coast at Puri around 8 am and it will take around three hours for the entire landfall process to be completed,” Director of Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, H R Biswas said.
