Bareilly’s Imam issues fatwa against Triple Talaq victim; no medicine, no burial at graveyard

Bareilly | Khurshid Alam, a Jama Masjid Imam from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday issued a Fatwa to a ‘Triple Talaq’ victim who runs a nonprofit for similar women’s who have been given divorce by their Husbands.

The Fatwa states that “No medicines will be provided if she falls ill. If she dies, no one is allowed to offer ‘namaz‘ on her ‘janaza‘ (funeral procession). She cannot be buried in the kabristan (graveyard) after her death.” The Imam further added that “Those who help or support her will face similar punishment.”

Khurshid Alam also warned other people to face similar circumstances if they offer support to Nida Khan, “No Muslim is to maintain contact with her until she publicly apologises and retracts her anti-Islam stand.”

Nida Khan who won the case against ‘Triple Talaq’ in the civil court was given divorce after a year of marriage. Khan who is now a campaigner against evil practices like ‘Halala’ while responding to the Fatwa said that those issuing the fatwa ‘should go to Pakistan’. “India is a democratic country. No one can ostracise me. Only Allah can decide who is guilty,” added Nida Khan.
