Bhupendra Patel to be new CM of Gujarat

Vadodara : Senior Bhartiya Janta Party leader and close associate of former CM Anandiben Patel, Bhupendra Patel will be next Chief minister of Gujarat. Decision on the of Patel was taken in meeting.

The MLA from Ghatlodia seat — held earlier by Anandiben Patel — was the part of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority.

The BJP’s Legislature party meeting held today was to elect a new chief ministerial face today, attended by Central Observers Union Ministers Narendra Tomar and Prahlad Joshi. Bhupendra will now visit the Governor’s Residence at 5:30 PM to stake his claim for the top post.

Apart from that, Union minister and BJP leader Mansukh Mandaviya, and Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Nitin Patel, were also present.

BJP Gujarat president CR Patil, who took himself out of the race for CM on Saturday was also part of the meeting, along with Rupan.

Vijay Rupani stepped down on Saturday — 15 months ahead of the state elections — in a surprise move amid whispers that his handling of the second wave of Covid and his style of functioning had upset the Central leadership.
