Bihar AES death toll rises to 104; CM Nitish Kumar to visit Muzafarpur today

Patna | As the death toll in Bihar’s Muzzafarpur due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) crossed 104, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be visiting the hospital today.

Earlier Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan along with his deputy Ashwini Kumar Choubey and state Health minister Mangal Pandey visited Muzaffarpur on Sunday to take stock of the situation and held meetings with doctors and officials of both the central and state governments. Vardhan also held a review meeting with the officials of the Health and other departments concerned of the state government in Patna.

Kumar earlier expressed grief over the children’s death in Muzaffarpur and ordered payment of Rs four lakh as ex-gratia to the next of the kin of the deceased. He also directed the officials of the Health department and the district administration as well as doctors to take all possible measures to tackle the disease.
