BJP Chief JP Nadda, Kailash Vijayvargiya’s Convoy Attacked In Bengal

Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh on Thursday alleged that stones were hurled at BJP national president JP Nadda’s convoy on way to Diamond Harbour in West Bengal.

While the two leaders were on their way to Diamond Harbour on Thursday to meet party workers for the Bengal elections in 2021, vehicles of BJP Chief JP Nadda and Kailash Vijayvargiya’s convoys were attacked in Bengal, India Today reported.

Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh on Thursday alleged that stones were hurled at BJP national president JP Nadda’s convoy on way to Diamond Harbour in West Bengal.

Even Kailash Vijayvargiya’s convoy was attacked and stones were hurled at his vehicle. The BJP leader tweeted a video showing a cracked windshield of the car he is travelling in.

“Even though Bengal Police were given information about the program of national President JP Nadda, they failed once again. Near Sirakole bus stand, in front of the police, TMC goons beat our workers and hurled stones at my car,” Mr Vijayvargiya tweeted.

Protesters gathered on the streets when the convoys of JP Nadda and Vijayvargiya were headed towards Diamond Harbour on Thursday and attempted to block the road to stop Nadda’s convoy from passing. While Mr Nadda was on his way to South 24 Paraganas to address a meeting of BJP workers, protestors also pelted stones at the vehicle.

Police managed to escort the vehicles out of the area after the attack.

“On our way to Diamond Harbour, TMC supporters blocked the road and pelted Naddaji’s vehicle and other cars in the convoy with stones. This only shows the true colour of the TMC,” Dilip Ghosh said.

However, ruling Trinamool Congress party leader Madan Mitra refused the charges levelled and said: “Their own goondas are indulging in violence.” Saying that protests by locals were a “people’s revolt”, Mr Mitra also denied any involvement of the TMC in the attack.

Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar, rebuking the CM and police in his tweet, said: “Concerned at alarming reports of anarchy and lawlessness @MamataOfficial indicating ruling party harmads on rampage at BJP President Convoy and political police @WBPolice in support. This happening inspite of my alerts to CS & DGP early morning indicated collapse of law & order.”
