BJP Set To Sweep Madhya Pradesh Bypolls, Congress Wiped Out

As per trend counting reported by PTI, the ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh is leading in 20 of the 28 Assembly constituencies, while Congress is leading on 7 seats.

Powered by ex-Congress man Jyotiraditya Scindia, the BJP took a lead in the Madhya Pradesh bypolls as votes were counted in 56 assembly (and one Lok Sabha) seats across a dozen states.

As per trend counting reported by PTI, the ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh is leading in 20 of the 28 Assembly constituencies, while Congress is leading on 7 seats. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is leading in Morena constituency.

BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, who had joined Congress party with his supporters, which necessitated the bypolls, tweeted in the afternoon congratulating “the winners” of his party. He expressed confidence that the winning candidates will remain eager for public service and the development of their respective constituencies.

Former Chief Minister and Congress leader, Kamal Nath, said, “Let the results come in fully. We will respect the mandate and thank the voters.”

The Congress’s Indu Raj Narwal, in Haryana’s Baroda assembly seat, defeated the BJP’s Yogeshwar Dutt by 12300 votes. The BJP was leading in both Dumka and Bermo assembly seats in Jharkhand, according to early trends.
