BRD Hospital deaths: After two years of suspension and 9 months of jail, Dr Kafeel Khan gets a clean chit

Dr Kafeel Khan spent 9 months in jail for these charges. He was granted bail earlier but remained continuously suspended despite that.

 

Dr Kafeel Khan who was charged in case of death of children in BRD hospital in Gorakhpur has been discharged. Dr Kafeel Khan was suspended for two years in 2017 after the death of more than 60 children due to lack of oxygen. A departmental inquiry freed him from allegations of medical negligence, corruption charges and not performing his duty on the day of the accident. On Thursday, BRD officials submitted a copy of the report to Dr Kafeel.

Dr Kafeel Khan spent 9 months in jail for these charges. He was granted bail earlier but remained continuously suspended despite that. He has also demanded a CBI enquiry into the matter.

Investigation officer Himanshu Kumar, Principal Secretary, UP Medical Education Department submitted the report on 18 April. Kafeel blamed the government for keeping him in darkness for five months.
