New Delhi| According to media reports, an Indian Army officer and two soldiers have died after violent face-off broke out with Chinese troops in the Galwan valley of Ladakh.

“During the de-escalation process underway in the Galwan Valley, a violent face-off took place yesterday night with casualties. The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers. Senior military officials of the two sides are currently meeting at the venue to defuse the situation,” the official statement informed.

More details are awaited on this story.

Beijing, however, has accused India of crossing borders and attacking Chinese personnel, AFP reported.

Earlier this month, talks were held between Divisional commander-level officers.

There was a discussion between Lt. General Level military commanders on 6 June between India and China over ending tension between forces in eastern Ladakh. Giving this information, the Ministry of External Affairs had said that China is ready to settle the whole dispute peacefully. The ministry had said that the talks took place in a very peaceful and warm atmosphere. It was agreed that the issue will be resolved soon and the relationship will be carried forward.

Chinese helicopters were spotted near LAC on Monday, just two days after the talks between the commanders of the two armies. News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that the aerial activities of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have intensified in the last 7-8 days. These helicopters may have been flying to help Chinese troops stationed at the border.
