Breaking: Congress Wins Vote Of Confidence In Rajasthan Assembly, Relief For Gehlot

After a month-long tussle in Rajasthan that almost pushed the Gehlot government on the brink of collapse, the Congress leadership somehow managed to avert the crisis today.

Jaipur| On Friday, the Gehlot-led Congress government in Rajasthan won the motion of confidence through voice vote. Assembly Speaker CP Joshi said the house has been adjourned till August 21. In the 200-member House, Gehlot enjoyed the support of 107 MLAs while BJP had to bite the dust with 72 MLAs.

After a month-long tussle in Rajasthan that almost pushed the Gehlot government on the brink of collapse, the Congress leadership somehow managed to avert the crisis today.

In his first reaction, former deputy CM Sachin Pilot said, “the vote of confidence which was brought by the govt has been passed with a very good majority today in the Rajasthan Assembly. Despite various attempts by the opposition, the result is in favour of govt.”

Pilot also added, “This has put a full stop on all suspicions that were rising. A roadmap has been prepared for all the issues that were being raised. I have complete faith, that roadmap will be announced timely.”

Gehlot, earlier in a day, had said it would be “a victory of truth” during the assembly session. “As the Legislative Assembly session begins today, It would be the victory of the people of Rajasthan and the unity of our Congress MLAs, it would be a victory of truth: Satyamev Jayate,” he had tweeted.
