New Delhi| Telecom service providers Airtel, Jio and Vodafone have suspended services in parts of Delhi following Anti-CAA protests in the national capital. The companies have stopped Internet and Voice services after government directives.

After several people complained to Airtel customer care on Twitter, in response the company said that the data services at few locations were stopped as per government directive. An Airtel customer care executive replied to a complaining customer, “As per instructions from govt. authorities, voice, internet and SMS services are currently suspended in your location. Once the suspension orders are lifted, our services will be fully up and running.”

As per the directive issued by the Delhi Police, between 9 AM to 1 PM internet and voice services were shut in North and Central districts, Mandi House, Seelampur, Jaffarbad, Mustafabad, Jamia Nagar, Shaheen Bagh and Bawana.

The move comes amidst massive nationwide protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Protestors are carrying out rallies against CAA across 11 cities in India. Section 144 has been imposed in UP, Bengaluru and parts of Delhi.
