Celebrities & Citizens Complain Of Insane Electricity Bills Amid Lockdown

There has been no response reported on the issue of inflated bills from the power distribution company-Adani Electricity.

Mumbai| Not only common citizens but also celebrities have been shocked after receiving exorbitant electricity bills. Actors like Tapsee Pannu and Renuka Shahane, Dino Morea, and comedian Vir Das have complained of receiving inflated electricity bills.
Complaining of ‘insane rise’ in her electricity bill for the month of June 2020, Taapsee Pannu expressed her shock on the micro-blogging website Twitter.

“3 months of lockdown and I wonder what appliance(s) I have newly used or bought in the apartment only last month to have such an insane rise in my electricity bill. @Adani_Elec_Mum what kind of POWER r u charging us for?,” Taapsee asked on twitter while posting images of the bills of April and May months, where she received less than Rs 5,000 bills, respectively.

Actor Renuka Shahane also questioned how her Rs 5510 bill in May became Rs 29,000.

“Dear @Adani_Elec_Mum I got a bill of Rs 5510/= on the 9th of May while in June I got a bill of Rs 29,700 combining May & June where you’ve charged me Rs 18080 for the month of May. How did Rs.5510/= become Rs.18080/=?” Shahane asked on Twitter. She had also attached the pictures of bills with her post.

Actor Huma Qureshi also took to Twitter and expressed her shock over an inflated bill.

Huma asked, “What are these new electricity rates ?? @Adani_Elec_Mum Last month I paid 6k .. and this month 50 k ????!!! What is this new price surge ?? Kindly enlighten us.”

Not only celebrities but also many common people have been facing the brunt of insane electricity bills.

A Twitter user named Ankita also voiced a similar complaint saying, “Dear Adani Electricity, My average bill is 5000 per month for a year and suddenly I am getting 20000 bill for June. @Adani_Elec_Mum @CMOMaharashtra”.

Another Twitter user, Manish Tupe, also urged the Chief Minister to look into the inflated electricity bills. He said, “Respected CM Uddhav Thackeray, With great shock, I have received an Electricity Bill three times more than the usual/average from @Adani_Elec_Mum. This is beyond normal. The bill for April & May was already paid. We need your help in this matter.”
