Chargesheet filed against Indian pacer Mohammed Shami for dowry and sexual harassment

Kolkatta | The Kolkatta police today has filed a charge-sheet against India cricketer Mohammed Shami with nonbailable offences.

In a filed charge-sheet at the Alipore police court, the Kolkatta police have charged the fast bowler under sections 498A (dowry harassment) and 354A (sexual harassment).

Controversy erupted in March last year when Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan accused the Indian bowler of an alleged extra-marital affair and levelled match-fixing accusations against him. Acting on the allegation the BCCI released Shami of the central contract list pending investigations. After investigation Shami was given a clean chit and was given in Grade A contract.

Shami’s wife later lodged a police case against the cricketer accusing him of torture, physical abuse and domestic violence. However, the Indian pacer maintained that the accusations were baseless and alleged that it was a conspiracy to ruin his career.
