Mahabalipuram| Chinese President Xi Jinping met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, on the second day of his two-day visit to India. The two leaders held a one-to-one meeting at the Taj Fisherman Cove Resort in Kovalam, Tamil Nadu. This was followed by a representative level discussion between Modi and Jinping. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval were also present. Both leaders have emphasized on increasing diplomatic communication. In addition, there was the talk of preparing a new mechanism to discuss trade, investment and services. Jinping has invited Modi to visit China for the third informal dialogue.

Modi visited Wuhan in China for the first informal meeting in April last year. The two leaders will also meet at the ASEAN Summit to be held in Bangkok between 31 October and 4 November.

Agreed to increase partnership in manufacturing sector
Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said that there was talk for about six hours between the two leaders. China is about to take drastic measures to reduce the trade deficit. Xi Jinping said that he is serious about building a business relationship. Jinping and Modi also discussed a partnership in the manufacturing sector and creating jobs in the market.

Jinping also talked about increasing ties in the defense sector. This will increase trust between the armies of the two countries. “The Defense Minister will visit China soon. It will be announced. Next year will mark 70 years of China-India relations. On this occasion, we are considering doing 70 types of programs. Every week a program related to this will be held in India or China,” Gokhale said.

Asked about the discussion on Kashmir issue, Gokhale said that there was no talk on Kashmir issue between the two leaders. The government has already said that this is our internal matter. The two leaders talked about facing global threats like terrorism. “Growing radicalism in big countries like China and India is worrying,” said Gokhale.
India and China insist on promoting tourism
According to Gokhale, Prime Minister Modi has proposed to emphasize tourism to both countries. “In the 75th year of India’s independence, we have to look towards increasing our old level of tourism,” PM Modi reportedly said. Modi and Jinping also held talks on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

The Prime Minister also emphasized on increasing relations between Tamil Nadu and Fuchsian Province. Recently Tamil artworks were discovered in Fuchsian. Apart from this, a temple was also discovered. The Prime Minister considered it important to carry forward the relationship between South India and China. For example, Buddhism was an important reason for relations between China and North India.
Modi will go to China for third informal meeting
The Foreign Secretary said that Jinping has invited Prime Minister Modi to visit China again for an informal meeting. Its time will be decided later. Modi has accepted the invitation. Both leaders have emphasized on increasing diplomatic communication.
