UP CM Yogi Adityanath meets murdered Apple executive’s wife

Lucknow | Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday met the wife of the murdered Apple executive, Vivek Tiwari after facing severe criticism from the opposition parties.

CM Adityanath held a meeting which ran for over 25 minutes meet Kalpana Tiwari, wife of the Apple executive and his daughters at his residence. The UP government after the meeting announced a compensation of 25 lakh for the family and Rs. 5 lakh for Vivek Tiwari’s children’s education and additional Rs. 5 lakh for Tiwari’s elderly mother.

Speaking to media after the meeting with CM Adityanath, Kalapana Tiwari informed, “He heard what I had to say and assured help. I am in no shape to take any strong stand…I had said that I have faith in our state government… today that faith has strengthened.” She further added that “All my demands have been met. I wanted strict action against the guilty, a job, accommodation, expenses for education of my daughters and my mother-in-law. The Chief Minister acceded to all my demands.”

Vivek Tiwari, regional manager of the multinational company ‘Apple’ had died on 28 September after being shot by a Uttar Pradesh Police constable during a police-check in Lucknow. According to reports, the incident took place at around 1.30 am at the Gomti Nagar Extension area after Tiwari allegedly refused to stop his SUV during the police checking. Tiwari reportedly died of injuries at the hospital in Lucknow.

Earlier Uttar Pradesh deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Sunday met the wife of Vivek Tiwari and CM Yogi Aditynath assured all possible help to the family of Vivek Tiwari. Meanwhile, the case is been transferred to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for further investigations.
