Kolkata : The first report of violence came from West Bengal’s Samserganj. According to Times Now’s report Jahidur Rahman has been accused of bombing on Thursday.

Congress candidate Jahidur has been accused of carrying out a bombing in his constituency. According to a report by Times Now, the bombing took place in Ghanashyampur at 2:45 am today. As per the report, the Congress leader led a mob and carried out the bombing. Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has accused Rahman of intimidating voters ahead of polling.

EC Asks For Reports From Samserganj

According to Times Of India report, Election Commission has asked for a report from the registration officer (RO) of Samserganj. A complaint was lodged against a Trinamool Congress candidate for trying to influence voters who were standing in the queue.

A total of 6,97,164 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the three constituencies and the votes will be counted on October 3.

Polls had to be countermanded in Jangipur and Samserganj in April following the death of two candidates.

All eyes are on the Bhabanipur by-election as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who lost to the leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram, is contesting from here. CPM has fielded its candidate Srijab Biswas from the constituency while the BJP has fielded Priyanka Tibrewal.

The Election Commission has deployed 72 companies of central forces in the three constituencies, of which 35 are stationed in Bhabanipur alone and prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC have been imposed within 200 metres of the polling centres.

There has been a widespread allegation that the TMC threatens voters and stops them from going to the voting centres and so the EC is not taking any chances.
