Congress leader lands into controversy after sexist dig on BJP women leader

Bhopal: Congress leader Arun Yadav after making derogatory remark on Bhartiya Janta Party’s (BJP) women leaders Smriti Irani and Hema Malini has landed into a controversy. BJP has shared a clip of his speech and has attacked Priyanka’s recent statement on girl power.

While campaigning in the Khandwa Lok Sabha constituency for the upcoming bye-election, Arun Yadav took to the stage and called Smriti Irani an old woman and also referred to Hema Malini while talking about price rise.

Arun Yadav said, “During the Congress rule, inflation was called a ‘dayan’ (witch) and now when the inflation has further gone up, it has become an ‘apsara’, it has become Hema Malini.”

As Arun Yadav continued with his address, a Congress worker mentioned Smriti Irani in the middle of the meeting. This is when he called Smriti Irani a ‘dokri’ (old woman) and said, “Raju bhai, Smriti Irani is missing you a lot. But she has become a dokri”.

Madhya Pradesh BJP has now slammed the Congress party over the distasteful and sexist remarks on the women leaders.

In a tweet, Madhya Pradesh BJP said, “Priyanka Gandhi has been saying I am a woman, I will fight. You could not fight the criminal son of the Congress leader in Madhya Pradesh, will you fight against Arun Yadav, who made lewd remarks on women? Or will the duplicity continue?”

Priyanka Gandhi Vandra addressing a press conference recently said that 40% seats will be reserved for women in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Elections. She also expressed how important the role of women is in this society. Attacking the same comment BJP today has tweeted the speech video. She had chosen girl power over caste, as the BJP UP government is using caste as their weapon, Priyanka Gandhi said Congress believes in women empowerment.
